80s Karate Kids

I recently finished watching the 2nd season of Cobra Kai and it reminded me just how much the Karate Kid movies meant to me as a kid. With season three a ways a way the only way to pass the time was to write up a Martial Arts Kid Side Gig for use with Lighthearted. 

This may not make it into the book, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying a good ol' fashion training montage. 

Martial Arts Kid SIDE GIG

Sick of getting your butt kicked, you sought out someone to teach you martial arts. You get a Mentor (bond), who is teaching you martial arts. Who are they and who are they training you to defend yourself against? To purchase the strengths in this Side Gig, you must first have a training montage with your Mentor.

Do The Chores: You’ve trained in an unconventional way to build up muscle memory. You have +2 to reaction rolls to defend against physical violence and resistance rolls to physical conditions.

Learn Balance: Prereq: Do The Chores. Hours spent getting knocked down by waves and standing on a post have given you exceptional balance. You may attempt to Take Control of any situation by standing on one leg.

Balanced Heart: Prereq: Learn Balance. A quick flashback to a happy memory and you’re feeling great. You can shift consequences between physical and emotional if doing so would leave you with an equal number of physical and emotional conditions.

Focus: Prereq: Balanced Heart. Once per session, you may take a moment to focus yourself and clear 1 condition. Surprisingly everyone waits for you to do this and your next action is rolled at +2. Who knew breathing exercises could be so effective.
